TIME PIECES
Many years ago I was an ambitious new salesman who not only wanted to be on time but to do so in style. Disappointed in the contemporary designs of the then-1980s, I decided to investigate the possibilities of a vintage watch. A local dealer showed me a 1946 Hamilton "Brandon" and I fell in love with the clean lines and the wonderful way the watch seemed to form to my wrist. One watch became two, and two became three, and soon I was a collector. It didn't take long to realize that I needed an alternative way to support my rapidly forming habit, so I started seeking out my own "as-is" watches to restore, and before I knew it I was not only buying them to keep but also for resale. Well, that first watch was 20+ years and who knows how many watches ago, and has grown into the business you see before you on these pages and in my store.
My love of watches has spread to vintage clocks as well, especially clocks from the mid-century period. Alarm, travel or wall, it doesn't really matter. Whether a classic Elgin, Omega or Rolex wristwatch, a 23-jewel Waltham pocket watch or a fabulous Gilbert Rohde-designed clock, nothing tells time like a vintage timepiece.
